Meet Kerry McAvoy, Principal

How fitting that a former player on a Final Four lacrosse team evolved to become a leader at ONE Environmental Group, which values the same discipline, hard work and commitment that drove Kerry McAvoy at Notre Dame.

The Baltimore native started at ONE in 2011, became a Principal in 2018, and cannot imagine a better place to work.

“I’m never going to need a resume again because I’m never going to need another job,” she says. “I’m so proud that all of us at ONE take care of what’s important. We take care of our people and our clients. We form good relationships, and I’m excited about the projects we work on.”

Kerry graduated from Notre Dame with a bachelor’s in environmental science, which capped a memorable senior year when the Irish advanced to their first-ever Final Four in women’s lacrosse.

She returned to Baltimore for a position with the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense and earned her master’s in environmental science and policy from Johns Hopkins University.

Kerry relocated to Richmond with her husband, Sean, to complete his medical residency. Hired by ONE as a Junior Associate, she transitioned to full-time status within months. Kerry found her niche in industrial compliance in various environmental media.

Along with her toddler, Haley, Kerry enjoys what she calls “adventures” around Richmond, whether they explore a park or walk along the James River. She and Sean are also parents to their Goldendoodle, Jack, a retired therapy dog.
