Meet Emily Beaver, Environmental Consultant

The summer after she graduated from North Carolina State University, Emily Beaver started at ONE Environmental Group’s Raleigh location. She supports multiple project managers and prepares site assessment reports in addition to field work in the areas of erosion and sediment control.

“Starting out, I was the youngest person on the team,” she says. “Everyone had a lot more experience than me, but I never felt like anyone talked down to me. I love that everyone was super willing to help me learn. As a recent graduate, that was really important. And I feel like that’s continued today.”

Emily’s hometown is Mooresville, North Carolina, just outside of Charlotte. As the youngest of six, she’s family-focused with fond recollections of “Movie Night” in the Beaver household. In fact, Emily seriously considered film school until she discovered that environmental work was a better fit.

“I was always super interested in the solar and energy fields,” she says.  “My dad works in energy, and it was a reasonable career field for me that has a lot more depth than other pathways.”

Emily holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Technology and Management.

She and her longtime partner, James Randall, enjoy hiking with their Labrador rescues, Bruce and Kya. Emily also enjoys sharing Movie Night with her young nieces and nephews. Her sentimental favorite is “101 Dalmatians,” which she’s watched close to 101 times, but anything animated makes her smile.
