Meet Chris Arrington, Environmental Consultant

Chris Arrington

Like so many of his colleagues at ONE Environmental Group, Chris Arrington can tick off multiple areas of specialty. He primarily focuses on consulting and project management as both relate to industrial clients. His plate also includes radiation surveys for a former mineral sands mine, erosion and sediment control audits, and stormwater management.

The diversity of tasks appeals to him as does working alongside a dynamic team. “At ONE, everybody has a fair say and a place to have their voices heard,” he says. “There’s a lot of respect from the top to the bottom. Also, you’ll see the people at the very top, like the principals, and you’ll see even the newest employees, doing similar work, sometimes, even if that means going off and sampling in a nasty storm. It’s not the traditional corporate hierarchy.”

Chris grew up outdoors more than in, whether bike riding in the woods or playing backyard sports in his hometown, Midlothian. An environmental studies degree was the natural choice at VCU. His time there only strengthened his decision to make a career in the environment largely thanks to two outdoor programs. He participated in a trip to Panama for a bird and wetland study and did additional undergraduate work on the James River on a wetland in Charles City County.

Chris also earned VCU’s certification in geographic information systems with an emphasis on urban and regional planning. He’s put the mapping skills to use at ONE as the GIS go-to guy. Chris and his wife, Liz, are newlyweds and enjoy exploring Richmond’s Fan district. He loves to hike along the river and enjoys running and weightlifting.
