Stay on Track: Annual Environmental Reporting Requirements for Organizations

As we’ve embarked on a new year, it’s crucial for organizations to stay compliant with various annual environmental reporting requirements. These regulations safeguard public health, protect the environment, and maintain operational transparency. Staying on top of these deadlines helps ensure compliance and avoid costly penalties.

ONE Environmental Group is here to help you navigate these obligations effectively. Below is a quick reminder of key reporting deadlines to add to your calendar:

Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) Reporting

Tier II (Section 312) Reports

  • Due Date: March 1 annually
  • Purpose: Provides local emergency responders and planners with information about hazardous chemicals stored on-site.
  • Applicability: Required for facilities storing hazardous chemicals above specific thresholds.

TRI (Section 313) Reports

  • Due Date: July 1 annually
  • Purpose: Tracks the release and management of toxic chemicals that may pose risks to public health and the environment.
  • Applicability: Mandated for facilities in specific industries that meet chemical and employee thresholds.

EPA Air Reporting Requirements

  • Due Date: Annually (specific dates vary depending on state and type of report)
  • Purpose: Air Emissions Inventory reporting documents air emissions from facilities to meet Clean Air Act standards, typically due by March 1st, April 15th, or June 30th depending on the state. Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP) reports cover emissions from the prior calendar year and are due by March 31st each year. Annual Compliance Certification (ACC) under the EPA’s Title V air quality requirement must be submitted to many state agencies and the EPA by March 1st each year.
  • Applicability: Facilities with permits under the Title V Air Permit Program or similar state/region-specific air quality regulations.

EPA Refrigerant Reporting

  • Due Date: March 1 annually
  • Purpose: Reports on refrigerant usage and emissions to ensure compliance with the Clean Air Act.
  • Applicability: Required for facilities with large appliances or refrigeration equipment exceeding specific refrigerant thresholds.

EPA e-Manifest Reminder

Speaking of the EPA, keep in mind that starting January 22, 2025, the EPA is implementing new requirements for Small Quantity Generators (SQGs) and Large Quantity Generators (LQGs). At least one user at your site must have e-Manifest certifier or site manager registration access to comply with these changes. This mandatory account registration ensures all generators can access final signed manifest copies through the EPA’s e-Manifest system.
