Mining Services
The federal government developed an extensive regulatory system to govern active mining operations in the United States, as well as to help guide the cleanup of historical ones. The mining regulation framework is built around decades of federal laws, with many delegated to state agencies which have created their own standards and regulations. In some cases, the standards can be even more stringent than federal regulations.
ONE Environmental has significant experience navigating the regulatory framework around mining, including heavily regulated mineral sands processing. In Virginia, ONE is very familiar with programs involving Naturally Occurring Radiation Material (NORM), Fixed Density Gauges and Non-Medical device registrations. It employs licensed Radiation Safety Officers (RSOs) with experience operating nuclear fixed density gauges, performing leak tests and other client activities requiring an understanding of the principles and safety fundamentals related to radiation.
ONE can help clients address the myriad mining regulations related to these and other laws:
- National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
- Clean Air Act (CAA)
- Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
- Clean Water Act (CWA)
- Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
- Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA)
ONE’s mining services portfolio includes:
- Environmental permitting and NEPA compliance
