Position: Entry‐Level Environmental Engineer/Scientist
Location: Richmond, VA
ONE Environmental Group is a small but fast growing environmental consulting company. We provide a diverse environment for employment. The Environmental Scientist role in our company involves support on many projects, with many people. Management’s focus for this position is to learn the Environmental Scientist’s strengths and give more projects and responsibilities that showcase those strengths.
Job Description:
An Environmental Scientist will have multiple projects at one time, and every project has a hard deadline. Prioritizing is key, and questions are strongly encouraged by management. Everyone at ONE is held accountable for time and work performed. This position is challenging, but there is zero chance of being bored. Our Environmental Scientist learn new things every day, and our job training focuses on teaching employees how to independently solve problems. We are not training employees to complete a task, we are teaching employees how to identify and find solutions independently. By proving yourself to the team, Entry‐Level employees have the opportunity to advance in the company as we grow. You will report to multiple project managers and will support project teams on a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to:
Office Work will include performing environmental site assessments (writing reports and attending onsite walkthroughs), permitting and compliance support for air, water, wastewater, solid waste, and pollution prevention programs. Environmental Scientist perform remedial evaluations, interpret and create data tables, carry out oversight of subcontractors in the field, and prepare reports for clients and other environmental and safety related projects. (Always reviewed by a Project Manager)
Field Work will comprise approximately 30% to 50% of your workload over the course of a year. Environmental Scientist are responsible for preparing all field supplies for a field event, and will be responsible for sampling environmental media (soil, air, and groundwater). Field work is physically challenging and to succeed in this environment, Environmental Scientist must be able to lift a minimum of 40lbs. safely, and must consider safety as paramount and demonstrate an awareness of safe operations at all times. Regular travel throughout Virginia and possibly other states will be required; however the majority are only day trips.
To succeed as an Environmental Scientist, a positive attitude and the ability to contribute as a valuable team player must be evident at all times.
Qualifications:
B. S. in Environmental Engineering (or similar engineering/environmental scientist discipline).
Engineer‐In‐Training (E.I.T.) is strongly preferred with desire to obtain Professional
Engineer (P.E.) license.
Must be proficient with MS Office including (but not limited to) Word and Excel.
Safe driving record and reliable transportation are required.
Ability to successfully pass a company‐paid physical examination and drug screen.
This position will require a 40‐hour HAZWOPER OSHA certification; however, the certification is not required to apply. Training will be provided to successful candidates after employment. No Visa sponsorship is provided at this time.
